All you need to know about the latest French charts for the week ending November 16th, 2017. Downloads, airplay, streaming and physical sales.
For the sixth week running, French rappers Kalash and Damso are at the combined singles chart summit. Their duet, entitled ‘Mwaka Moon’, is very popular on audio and video streaming platforms but has not so far crossed to the mainstream, keeping the profile of a niche favourite, as has been the case with the former number one, Niska’s ‘Réseaux’, which held the top spot for 11 weeks despite comparatively very weak airplay figures and poor mainstream reputation.
All in all, this is now the 17th consecutive week that Capitol Records command the French charts.
Foreign hits in the top 10 include ‘rockstar’ by Post Malone (at 3), ‘Havana’ by Camila Cabello, with a new peak at 4, ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ by Zayn and Sia (8). Plus ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran entering the top 10 this week, at 6.
Rising on the combined singles chart and rising, too, on the airplay chart: ‘Perfect’ is the new most played song in France this week.
On the airplay front, the most notable move is that of Sound Of Legend , leaping 27 places in a week. The remix of the 90s Nightcrawlers’ classic ‘Push The Feeling On’ is now at 15.
On the downloads chart, ‘Katchi’ by Ofenbach hops once more to the top, ensuring a fourth week at number one.
On the albums chart, French singer and actress Louane enters straight at number one with her sophomore self-titled album.
Three other domestic acts are new in the top 10:
Veteran singer Eddy Mitchell at 4.
Young pop sensation M. Pokora at 5.
French rap group MMZ at 10.
The highest new entry by a foreign act goes to Taylor Swift. ‘Reputation’ only manages to land at 16.
The French charts are compiled by GfK for Snep. They are based on downloads, streams and, for the albums chart, physical sales.
The airplay chart is compiled by Yacast.
